I finally worked up the nerve and I did it. Landed flat on my arse in the end, but it took a while and he had to work for it.
I should have prepared myself more for that blasted dampening field though. I've avoided it like the plague ever since I've been here and even after the first two classes, I wasn't sure if I would be ready to do the demonstration. It was the first class I've actually participated in and for the first time since my childhood, I was truly blind. In the dark, facing an attacker. All those trainings with Michel, prepared me for this and I was ready. I lasted, even though I had to use my walking stick I've proven I'm not an invalid.
I lasted.
I couldn't read anyone to gauge their reactions to the demonstration and I waited until everyone left before making my exit. I didn't want to catch snippets of conversation, discussing my foolishness. I've realized that most illogical acts are done under the pretense of sanity.
But, it is insanity will bring me back, even after the bruising of ego. I figure, it would do me a world of good to brush up on my fighting skills, especially after all that has happened this past week.
Of course, afterwards, when I wanted to share my enthusiasm with someone I couldn't find Alison. So, I had Terry help me find this image. I've decided to make up shirt with the class slogan, "I took on the Wolverine and Survived." I think it's fitting.
And from Terry's reaction, I think the picture say it all.

I was glad I got to watch. Because let me tell you, you were amazing. I mean, I cannot imagine what it is like, but you put up a marvelous fight. And don't worry about your image - it's alive and kicking. I say nobody handles a stick quite as gracefully and elegant as you.
Though, you know, it truly is a pity that you couldn't see his face when he noticed that you wouldn't be easy prey. The picture is perfect.

Well, I'm sure you heard the rather undignified, startled yelp, right? The expression that goes with it is intriguing. His forehead crumpled up like an empty snickers wrapper, and his eyebrows arched. He got this bug-eyed look and it all ended up looking like a truly weird Mickey Ds "M". His jaw-muscles clamped down and his lips stretched over his teeth and he ended up with something akin to a double-chin and a very vyer unbecoming grimace. It was horrible and amusing at the same time. I was truly afraid his face would freeze that way.
After the initial shock wore off there was, just for a fleeting moment, the pouty, surprised look of a kicked puppy. It was almost cute.
Well, and then he got into full kick-arse mode...

You can do that, as long as you show up tomorrow morning.
No buts....You're going and that's final.

That was really, really impressive, Ms. Braddock.
If you wanna know my reaction it was pretty much sheer jaw-drop amazement and wishing I could do that because maybe then I wouldn't land flat on my butt so often. :)
