After spending a god awful month in the armpit of the Middle East, I am happily back in the city.

Before you ask, I am quite used to traveling to far off places but I can't help but miss the creature comforts of home. And while, I've never been a person to suffer the will of particular cravings but for this entire trip I couldn't help but want to eat swine and imbue alcohol like a typical heathen. You can understand my problem, well maybe some of you can, but for the unenlightened I was in an Islamic state for the past four weeks, so you can imagine this unexpected craving became quite bothersome.

So, while I'm back I will be around but not necessarily available for the next few hours.

Don't laugh. It's a vice and one I'm happy to accommodate.

You come back right as I start to pack, though I shall only be gone a few days at the most. Shall I help you imbue alcohol when you are less preoccupied?

Join me once you're done packing. I don't think you'll be opposed to sacrificing a few crispy strips to the little pagan pork temple I've just created in the kitchen. It's really too much for one person to handle alone. I'll need the backup.

That is far too powerful an image to pass up - I can pack tomorrow. I shall find the most appropriate drink, then, to sacrifice to the pagan pork temple.

Wise choice. I can remember a time when cooking anything usually ended with a visit from the FDNY. I guess watching Mr. Haller cook has had some benefit. Well, sometimes.

It's a gift to actually be able to burn jello. So, learning to make edible bacon is a miracle of sorts.
